Soulful Pilates: Pilates Classes Done Right!
Soulful Pilates opened its doors in the bay area in 2012 by master Pilates instructor Véronique Dumont Thoma. The studio has blossomed into a learning destination and teacher training center, specializing in Pilates and CoreAlign. Soulful Pilates is conveniently located in a tree-lined residential community on the corner of Waller and Clayton Streets, just one block from Haight Street and two blocks from Cole Valley's eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and restaurants.
Soulful Pilates has a talented group of instructors who's goal is to inspire life-long learning and wellness through conscious movement and self-awareness practices. Our studio environment is fun, supportive and inviting. Soulful Pilates staff and teachers are committed to self-development and professional excellence. We strive to share our innovative mind-body concepts with our students, and to help them use this new knowledge to better themselves. Students and teachers throughout the Bay area travel to our studio for training and Pilates classes because we offer a friendly studio environment and truly care about improving mind-body wellness through Pilates.
Here at Soulful Pilates, our Pilates classes completely engage your body and mind while restoring healthy movement. Whether in a private or class setting, our skilled instructors offer balanced training techniques for people who want to lead healthier and more vibrant lives. You'll learn how to move with more awareness and feel what's right for your body, regardless of your current condition or fitness level.
Here is a break down of our group class options:
Highly popular piece of equipment. The Reformer works to strengthen and correct posture of the legs and butt and helps to realign the torso and increase strength in the upper body among many other benefits. It produces visible results within a dozen regular sessions helping to achieve toned arms and legs and defining firmer abdominal muscles. The Reformer is large enough to accommodate a full-range of motion and provides resistance, which is wonderful for increasing flexibility while building strength.
The Chair is the most challenging piece of equipment in the Pilates repertoire. It offers a great workout that challenges the core balance while providing a great upper and lower body workout as well. It works spinal flexion, extension, and side bending through the many different stretching positions, and improves balance whether sitting, standing, or lying on the chair. The chair is excellent for strength and stability, and is a great workout for both women and men.
Mixed Apparatus classes
Mixed apparatus means it will be a different workout every time and allows you to try out the various pieces of Pilates equipment.
Springboard/Props and Sculpt
Extension of the matt-work adding resistance training and using rollers, balls, magic circles, elastic and small weights. Great for upper-body and lower body strength and developing muscle definition.
